Family Night and Baking!!

I thought I would post some pictures from our Saturday evening. We had a wonderful family evening hanging out and taking it easy! These are the types of night's that I hope our girls remember once they are all grown up. I know I remember Fun family nights with my family and just LOVE those memories.

We had a simple dinner...a take and bake pizza from the grocery store. The girls were not into the pizza, or as Madelin says, "Pi-pa." Instead, they enjoyed some Baked Oatmeal leftover from this morning's breakfast, Peach Yogurt, and some Cantaloupe. After dinner we (mostly mommy) wanted something sweet to eat and since my desire to cook and bake has increased lately, I decided to make Peanut Butter Cookies for us! Michaela was excited, but asked why I wasn't making Applesauce Oatmeal cookies. (these are my "go-to" cookie recipe for me and the girls: for 2 reasons, 1) I always have the ingredients and 2) they are pretty healthy for us to eat, plus me and the girls love them). I told her that since Daddy didn't like them, I was going to make a cookie that Daddy could enjoy with us too!! She thought that was awesome!

So we whipped up a batch. I LOVE spending time together with my family in the Kitchen! While I was baking, Matt was hanging out with the girls at the table. The picture of Matt and MJ above is of them Reading words that they were sounding out and spelling on the fridge. Michaela is SUCH a SMART girl!!!

Here are my Peanut Butter cookies getting ready to go in the oven!! And below, the finished product!! SO YUMMY! I remember my Mom making these cookies a LOT when I was little! MJ thought that was cool when I told her this. In order to share some of our goodies, MJ called Aunt Judy to see if we could walk over some fresh baked cookies to her! She was thrilled!

We ALL LOVED these cookies and I am sure I will be making them again. We had a GREAT night together and I am so thankful for my family!

I mentioned above that my desire to cook/bake has increased lately. I have found such a new delight in working in the kitchen with my hands to prepare something yummy for my family! I must say, as weird as it may be, I am drawn to recipes with Applesauce or Oatmeal...why I don't know, but it is so fun to bake with them. So if you have any good recipes with either ingredient, send them my way =)

Some of the goodies I made this week:

Snickerdoodle Cookies (a favorite of ours from our early years of marriage)
Biscuits (we LOVE these with butter and jelly)
Baked Oatmeal (this morning when it was baking, MJ kept saying how "Lovely" it made our house smell...it was really cute!)
Peanut Butter Cookies

What fun!

Fun! Share you recipes??? I know of no cookie that is fast to and easy to "whip" up!!! I have to admit a lot of my cookies from the premade bags where you add oil and an egg! So share!!!! Plus Jake loves the cookies you brought over the night they had football! =)

Michaela and Madelin are sweeter than any cookies, but I have to say that those peanut butter cookies were great.
